Career

Gerard Lakeman launched his career in 1997 at Colliers BDR and soon moved to Jones Lang Wootton (later JLL), where he took on a variety of roles and honed his expertise across multiple disciplines. By 2002, he was leading the Industrial Agency team, and in 2004 he transitioned to Capital Markets as National Director for the Netherlands. In 2007, driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for real estate, Gerard co-founded 3stone alongside Eric Heijkoop and Marc Rimmelzwaan - a move that would define the next chapter of his career.

Expertise

Today, Gerard oversees complex investment transactions for Dutch and foreign institutional and private investors, as well as developers. With extensive experience across occupier and investor markets, he brings deep insight into the forces shaping logistics and commercial real estate. His approach is characterized by determination, creativity, and decisive execution.

Transactions

Career highlights include the landmark sale of Zalando’s distribution center in Bleiswijk to Korean investors - a €215 million transaction that set a record as the largest single-asset logistics investment in The Netherlands at the time. He also advised Union Investment on the forward funding of a logistics development at Greenport Business Park in Venlo, with Hessing B.V. as the long-term tenant. Most recently, in 2025, Gerard guided a Spanish private investor through the off-market acquisition of the AMS05 logistics center at Schiphol Trade Park in Hoofddorp, fully leased to a Google subsidiary. Valued at €145 million, it was the largest single-asset logistics transaction in The Netherlands that year.

Gerard & 3stone

For Gerard, founding 3stone in 2007 with Eric and Marc was a natural decision. Conceiving a transaction, bringing parties together, and securing alignment among all stakeholders is, to him, the essence of the profession. The boutique structure provides the freedom and agility to act precisely when opportunities arise, with full accountability from start to finish.
