Career
Mathijs Flierman began his career as Head of Real Estate at the Media Park in Hilversum, following his studies in Architecture and Industrial Engineering in Utrecht. In 1996, he joined Troostwijk Makelaars, where he established the Capital Markets team with a focus on residential and office portfolios. In 2007, he moved to Cushman & Wakefield, where he became Equity Partner, led the Capital Markets team, served on both the Global Advisory Team and the European Executive Committee. During this period, he advised on more than €8 billion in real estate transactions. In 2024, he joined 3stone as a Partner.
Mathijs holds a Master of Real Estate (MRE) from ASRE (2003), is SVM-certified, and is a longstanding member of RICS, where he served for many years as an assessor. He has also completed executive programmes in real estate finance and investment management.
Expertise
Mathijs advises on investment transactions for institutional and international investors, corporates, developers, and financial institutions. His work includes sale-and-leasebacks, forward fundings, and portfolio disposals across logistics, offices, hotels, residential, health & life sciences, parking, and retail. He combines decades of market insight with a sector-transcending perspective. His strength lies in rapidly decoding complex dossiers and identifying risks and opportunities at an early stage. His advice is direct, content-driven, and rooted in experience. Creating value is a non-negotiable premise in every mandate.
Transactions
Throughout his career, Mathijs has been involved in several landmark transactions in the Dutch market. He oversaw the sale of ABN AMRO’s headquarters on Amsterdam’s Zuidas, with a transaction volume of €780 million. For Unibail-Rodamco, he advised on portfolio disposals exceeding €3 billion. He also led the acquisition of TPG’s life sciences portfolio at the Leiden Bio Science Park, valued at €350 million. In 2025, he advised a client on the acquisition of a hotel in Amsterdam (€85 million) and sold shopping centre Jorisplein in Amersfoort on behalf of Altera (€60 million). Alongside large-scale mandates, Mathijs handles smaller transactions with the same level of commitment, such as the sale of Restaurant Parkheuvel by top chef Cees Helder in Rotterdam (€2 million) or the Rivium office building in Capelle aan den IJssel (€9 million).
